By day I got to school for Graphic Design, by noon I nap and by night I love to go to shows and see some really great music.
Hi, my name is Katie and I've resigned myself to eventually dying alone as the creepy lady with the Iguana Farm. The best lesson you can learn is if you don't fit in anywhere, you'll find a place everywhere. I don't really care for how some folks brag about how wonderful they are in the beginning of their infos so here is a few flaws...
*I'm 180-190 pounds.
*I steal the colorful slurpy straws from 7/11.
*I still like the Spice Girls, Hanson, and N*Sync. (I use to have a ton of posters all over my walls. Partly because I loved them, definitely because their presence would make my older brother look like he was going to cry).
*I love taking pictures but I drop my camera a lot and I usually delete 80% of my photographs.
*Reality television makes me feel like throwing furniture, I hate it.
*I can't tan. I freckle, burn, bruise, bleed and my legs glow in the dark.
*I'm horrible at remembering names
*It's taken me two years to read 60 pages of Prozac Nation.
***If I want someone to call me, set off a fire alarm, have a beer slopped on me, Prozac Nation is my 'unlucky book' that I insist on reading and keep getting distracted from***
I love driving and going to live shows, afterwards I feel emotionally recharged and balanced. Past adventures involved stalking the Wonderbread truck with my friend Rob and driving to Massachusetts to see Warped Tour 2004. From the house I was raised in I would have to drive 2-5 hours minimum for a good show. Back home in the summer it was all about spontaneous day trips to Hampton Beach or blowing an evening with my favorite films while spending time with my best friends. NH is the closest you can come to living under a rock. The "real" reason they call it Granite State, is supposedly because of the minerals. They can only be blamed for so much.
It's a real joy to take pictures of the shows I go to. I just have a little point and shoot Olympus Camedia camera. Usually the better the night is, the more of a blur it is. So it's less frustrating to have something to remember what has been a pretty amazing year. When I go home, I can share the stories and pictures with my friends and family. They are more likely to forgive me being gone so long with proof of a full and surprising life outside of NH. It is also a reminder for myself that things get better even when it seems like happiness is hiding.
The music I love...
Smashing Pumpkins, Citizen Cope, Beth Orton, Sufjan Stevens, Massive Attack, Kill Hannah, Sia Furler, Evaline, The Counting Crows, Love Arcade, Jason Mraz, Panic! At the Disco, Alice in Chains, Incubus (old and new), Travis, The Dresden Dolls, The Beatles, Motion City Soundtrack, Frou Frou, Bloc Party, Say Anything, Garbage, India Arie, The Bravery, Sarah Slean, Weezer, Etta James, The Used, Scissor Sisters, Jenny Owen Youngs, The Killers, Regina Spektor, mewithoutYou, Queen, Doves, Nirvana, Green Day, David Gray, Rusted Root, A Perfect Circle, Ozomatli, Norah Jones, Aerosmith, Sinead O'Conner, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Zero 7, Elvis Costello, Our Lady Peace, Portishead, Billie Holiday, Fall Out Boy, Voltaire, Gogol Bordello, Tori Amos, Death Cab For Cutie, Bif Naked, Staind, Trust Co., Modest Mouse, Björk, Frank Sinatra, Jewel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smiths, Voxtrot, Sarah McLachlan, Air, Queens Of The Stone Age, System Of A Down, Tracy Chapman...
